According to www.yasno-group.com, yearly rate of kvass consumption during the Soviet days was almost 8gal per person. In comparison, in the US, around 5ga ofl sports/energy drinks are consumed every year per capita, about 10 gal of tea, 11gal of fruit drinks, but a staggering nearly 45gal of carbonated soft drinks are consumed on the average by one person every year. It is no wonder so many health issues among people of various ages are connected with carbonated drinks.
There was an article recently, written by Rhonda Gessner, entitled "A Killer in Your Fridge...Sweet Poison..." about the ill effects of carbonated diet sodas. It definitely is a MUST READ.
